About Our Guides
I, Matt Liebel am the owner/operator of Liebel's Guide
Service. I have been fishing ever since
I was able to hold a rod. I have been
operating a boat on Lake Sakakawea for over 17 years and guiding for the past 5
years. During the school year I'm an 8th
grade science teacher, I coach golf and basketball, and I officiate basketball
and football. I just completed my 8
year of teaching and coaching at Williston Middle School.
My wife Amy and I have 2 children. Mason is 3 and Bridget was just born in March
of 2017! We also have a black lab named
Molly and a chocolate lab named Berkley.
My family is very important to me. I grew up in Watford City with 3 younger
brothers. Growing up in the badlands of
western North Dakota has given me a true love of the outdoors. And I look forward to serving you as your
Williston Area Fishing Guide.
Fishing tournaments is a huge passion of mine, Tory Hill and
I were lucky enough to win the 2011 North Dakota Governors Cup. I have also won the 2012 & 2010 Catch for
a Cure Ice Fishing Tournament, 2009 4Bears Casino Cup, and the 2007 SW Angler
Walleye Tournament all on beautiful Lake Sakakawea. In 2015 I captained the
winning team (My wife and friend Liz) for the Women on Water Tournament out of
White Earth Bay!
I also enjoy hunting.
North Dakota offers great pheasant, deer and turkey hunting!
Hi, My name is Andrew Fisketjon. I am a North Dakota native and was raised fishing Lake Sakakawea with my family and friends since I was a boy. I remember spending every weekend with my dad and brother at the lake. In recent years, I have invested a lot of my time in pursuing my passion of fishing. I became a licensed fishing guide in the spring of 2016. I joined Matt as a second guide at Liebel's Guide Service last season and it has been a very good experience.
I reside in Williston, North Dakota with my wife, Amber, and two beautiful children Easton and Livy who love spending time with Dad on the boat. Easton spends a lot of time in search of those finicky walleyes with me all summer long. (A lot more time than mom thinks he should!) I also like fishing Montana (Ft.Peck) which offers many different challenges than that of Sakakawea. While I am not fishing, I enjoy hunting as North Dakota and Montana have many great opportunities for the outdoorsman. I love being with my family and watching my kids grow up and learning new things. There is nothing greater in life than that.
Being a guide has allowed me to do what I love to do even more and share my fishing experiences with people who may not otherwise have the chance to experience our gorgeous waters from a boat. The fishing here is second to none and the scenery is nothing short of breathtaking. With that being said, I hope to see you on the water!!
was born and raised in central Minnesota. He started fishing with his grandpa
and dad on many of the local lakes as soon as he was able to hold his own
fishing pole. He learned how to clean fish at the young age of three. The more
Jeremy fished, the more he wanted to know about the different fish, techniques,
and how to catch them.
moved to western North Dakota at the height of the oil boom, only to fall in
love with the great outdoors and everything that North Dakota has to offer, he
packed his bags and has never looked back. He enjoys spending his free time
chasing mule deer in the fall, catching walleyes in the summer, spearing
Northern in the winter, and finding Lake Trout and Salmon in the spring and
the years, Jeremy has competed in different tournaments and has had a great
amount of success. Some of Jeremy’s best attributes as a guide are his ability
to instruct, professionalism, friendly personality, and his ability to provide an
epic day of fishing.
can rest assured that we will do everything in our power to make sure that you
have a memorable experience on beautiful Lake Sakakawea. We hope to see you on
the water! Jeremy will be offering guided ice fishing trips this coming winter, stay tuned for more details as we approach ice fishing season!
