As the 2025 fishing season approaches, Liebel's Guide Service is thrilled to welcome anglers back to the pristine waters of Lake Sakakawea. With a team of seasoned guides and a commitment to providing exceptional fishing experiences, we're ready to help you create lasting memories on one of North Dakota's most beautiful lakes.



Meet Our Expert Guides

Our team comprises four dedicated professionals, each bringing a wealth of knowledge and passion to your fishing adventure:

  • Matt Liebel: Owner and operator of Liebel's Guide Service, Matt has over 20 years of experience navigating Lake Sakakawea and has been guiding for the past 12 years. His deep-rooted love for fishing and the outdoors ensures a top-notch experience for all guests.

  • Jeremy Olson: Hailing from central Minnesota, Jeremy's lifelong fishing journey led him to North Dakota, where he fell in love with the state's outdoor offerings. His expertise spans various species and techniques, making him a versatile guide.

  • Cobi Hood: Bringing a fresh perspective and enthusiasm to our team, Cobi is dedicated to ensuring clients have an enjoyable and successful fishing trip.

  • Wade Hollingsworth: With a deep understanding of Lake Sakakawea's ecosystem, Wade's insights and techniques provide guests with unique opportunities to land impressive catches.

2025 Open Water Rates

We offer flexible packages to accommodate various preferences and group sizes:

  • Full 8-Hour Day (7 hours of fishing + fish cleaning/packaging):

    • 1 or 2 people: $600 ($150 deposit + $450 due on the day of the trip)

    • Each additional person: $150

  • Half-Day Rates (4 hours of fishing with the option to add hours):

    • 1 or 2 people: $525 ($50 per additional hour)

    • Each additional person: $100

Special Offer: Bring a child (ages 6-16) or provide proof of military service to receive a $50 discount. (Limit one discount per trip)


What We Provide

To ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience, we supply:

  • Fully equipped 20-22 foot boats capable of handling Lake Sakakawea's vast waters

  • Boat, motor, gas, and bait

  • All necessary fishing equipment

  • Fish cleaning and packaging at day's end

  • Life jackets (guests are welcome to bring personal life jackets if preferred)


What to Bring

We recommend guests come prepared with:

  • A current North Dakota fishing license

  • Food and drinks (Please note: Liebel's Guide Service maintains an alcohol-free policy)

  • Appropriate clothing for changing weather conditions

  • Sunglasses and sunscreen

  • A camera to capture memorable moments
