Fishing Conditions on Lake Sakakawea

Fish location is still a bit day-to-day. Some mornings we’re finding walleyes shallow in 8–12 feet, especially early or with some wind. Other days, they’ve slid out deeper into 18–25 feet. The key is to trust your electronics. Don’t be afraid to cover water. If you’re marking fish, stick with it. Change up your approach until they respond.

Effective Fishing Techniques

Presentation-wise, there’s no silver bullet. Spinners, slow death rigs, crankbaits, jig raps, and jigs/plastics are all producing depending on conditions. Some days, they want it moving. Other days, a subtle presentation gets it done. Be flexible and dial in what they want that day.
